You can’t deny the power of community and authentic interaction and it’s great to see gaming brands thriving by mastering their social media strategies.

A well-executed social strategy goes beyond just promoting products - it’s about creating a space where viewers feel seen, heard and part of a larger community.

Successful social media strategies are key to staying relevant in a competitive market, allowing brands to connect directly with their audience, drive conversation, and foster long-term loyalty. And like always say, loyalty is key! In fact, according to Statista, 65% of consumers feel more connected to brands that have a robust presence on social.

We wanted to explore and shout out to three gaming brands who are doing more than just selling products - they’re creating a vibrant ecosystem for their consumers to be a part of.

AGGRO CRAB: ANOTHER CRAB'S TREASURE

First up, we want to talk about Aggro Crab’s social media strategy, which was key for generating a buzz for their unique soulslike game, Another Crab’s Treasure.

Successfully leveraging TikTok and Twitter to create viral moments, Aggro Crab’s strategy stands out due to its focus on organic engagement, humor and community-driven approach.

Instead of relying on ‘tradition’ they have invested their time in building a fun and relatable brand voice which resonates with their audience. In fact, this approach has helped them hit significant milestones such as 250,000 copies sold of the game, which included 100,000 copies in the first 4 days [source: Nintendojo]!

Additionally, Aggro Crab often shares behind-the-scenes insights and responds directly to their community creating a sense of inclusion and excitement around the game’s development.

And posts like the below are exactly why we love what they’re doing.

CONCERNEDAPE: STARDEW VALLEY

Although very different to Aggro Crab, ConcernedApe, the one-person developer behind Stardew Valley, has used Twitter and Reddit to build a strong community.

As we mentioned in this blog, indie game developers create some of the best games in the industry and one reason for this, is by the backing they have from their community.

They actively seek and listen to feedback in the game development process. ConcernedApe frequently engages with fans, making the community feel involved in the ongoing development.  The approachable tone and direct communication help maintain excitement around the game.

LARIAN STUDIOS: BALDERS GATE 3

Baldur’s Gate 3 by Larian Studios is another great example of a successful social media strategy.

Their approach was highly community-driven, with frequent engagement on Twitter, YouTube and Reddit.

They totally did it right by posting regular updates during the games early access phase and they responded directly to player feedback - which is why indie game devs make some of the best games in the industry as they incorporated fan suggestions into the game!

Alongside this we say creator partnerships as well sharing memes and fan art creating a sense of inclusivity and building anticipation ahead of its release. According to Game Rant,  Baldur’s Gate 3, has hit three massive sales milestones by surpassing 10 million copies sold!

The common theme across the above developers is exactly what we said at the start - the power of community and authentic interaction.

By keeping content interactive, inclusive and relevant, they are prioritizing community-building, engagement and creating content which resonates with their target audience.

And we love to see it.
